Our Approach to Youth Sports
At the Y, our sports staff, coaches and volunteers all share a singular vision of helping all youth reach their full potential in life. We leverage the excitement and passion around recreational and competitive programming to create a healthy outlet for children to gain new skills, develop a sense of team and connect with positive role models.

BE GOAL ORIENTED! Youth Soccer is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. YMCA youth soccer promises no try outs, no getting cut and no bench warmers! While basic skills of the game are developed through practices and games, every child learns sportsmanship and values necessary to be successful in life.
SEASONS: Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter*
Ages 3 – 4 COED
This is an introduction to soccer and sports socialization. Children play on a field appropriate for their age with no goalie. Teams practice for 20-30 minutes before each game and a size 3 ball is used. Coaches officiate while teaching children during the course of games.
AGES 5-7 COED
Children in this division start to learn many of the rules of soccer. Teams practice one night a week for one hour. Children learn throw-ins and corner kicks, along with a modified goal kick. They play on a field appropriate for their age with a goalie and a size 4 ball is used. The official(s) take an active role in coaching as well as enforcing the rules.
AGES 8-10 COED
Emphasis is placed on skill development and learning the rules of the game. Teams practice one night a week for one hour. They play with a size 4 ball.
AGES 11-14 COED
This division continues to emphasize skill development and the importance of teamwork.
Teams practice one night a week for one hour. They
play with a size 5 ball.
Players will receive a shirt to play in. Each player will need shorts, shin guards, socks and soccer cleats or tennis shoes.

Tumble & Cheer
Tumble & Cheer offers the perfect opportunity for kids to develop self-reliance and self-confidence on an individual level while stressing the importance of teamwork within a cheer, or tumble, squad. Youth will learn basic skills, chants, cheers, jumps, and stunts while experiencing performances in front of a crowd. Participants will perform and cheer for the Youth Fundamental Basketball games. This session will run for 6 weeks.

Youth Basketball League
OPEN TO BOYS AND GIRLS IN GRADES PREK-3 TO HIGH SCHOOL
BE GOAL ORIENTED! Youth basketball is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. YMCA youth basketball promises no try outs, no getting cut and no bench warmers! Every child plays at least half of every game while making friends and learning new techniques.
PRACTICES: The YMCA offers one 60-minute practice per week.
FOCUS: YMCA utilizes volunteer coaches to focus on participation and fun! While basic skills of the game are developed through practices and games, every child learns sportsmanship and values necessary to be successful in life. Every game begins with a Youth Sports Pledge and ends with a handshake.
PROGRAM OFFERINGS: Fall & Winter
The YMCA Youth Sports Program helps kids become not only become better players, but better people as well. It's a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition, and family involvement.
