Job Title: Youth Development Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth Development Director at YMCA of Madison County oversees the development and operations of Pre-K and Elementary Childcare programs, and designs practices, processes, and procedures for high quality programs and project management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Recruitment, hiring, development and management of Pre-K Early Learning Childcare and Before/After Elementary Childcare staff.

2. Oversees supervision of all children, classroom, and program activities.

3. Ensures all procedures and standards established by Federal and Indiana State Childcare licensing and accreditation bodies or the Y are in compliance.; maintains the program site(s), equipment, and required program records.

4. Ensures teaching curriculum nurtures children through purposeful programming; follows lesson plans that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes.

5. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each childcare teacher and assistant teacher.

6. Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child’s needs and progress; conducts parent/caregiver conferences; connects families to the Y.

7. Plans, attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

8. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

9. Develops annual program budget, and manages the budget so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.

10. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.

11. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

12. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Five or more years of Pre-K childcare &/or elementary childcare experience.

● Associates degree in early learning child development or equivalent experience.

● YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.

● Ability to lead, direct and hold staff accountable to quality policy and procedural standards established by the YMCA and Federal and Indiana State Childcare licensing and accreditation bodies.

● Ability to direct operations through development and supervision of staff, development and monitoring of facility budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.

● CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood-borne Pathogens training.

● Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

● Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

Job Title: Cook

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Cook is responsible for prepping, preparing, and serving well-rounded meals each day at camp, ensuring the kitchen and dining hall is clean and organized, communicating with the Program Director on meals, directing kitchen assistants, planning and prepping meals for those with dietary restrictions, and other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prep and serve meals for Pre-K students and Elementary campers

2. Meet Nutritional needs:

a. Plan and provide nutritious meals and snack that meet dietary guidelines provided by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

b. Prepare and provide infant nutrition

c. Promote healthy eating

d. Accommodate for allergies, special dietary and nutritional requirements

3. Communicate food needs or issues with Youth Development Director or Designee

4. Maintains cleanliness in the kitchen and kitchen/food storage areas

5. Develops and complies with regular sanitation schedule for ovens, refrigerators and other appliances and other food service areas

6. Ensures a safe and healthy environment

7. Uses emergency procedures as required

8. Responds to equipment repairs as required

9. Works safely around stoves and chemicals

10. Maintains accurate, timely and complete records for menus, purchases and child allergies

11. Completes required Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation

12. Creates and maintains all food-related purchasing, inventory and turnover records

a. Estimates requirements and expenses

b. Ensures compliance with established budget

13. Maintain a high level of professionalism between themselves and other staff members

14. Other duties as assigned
